New district: Here are the places to visit in Nordhavn
Things are moving quickly in Nordhavn, and life of the restaurants has sprung in the new, stylish concrete district on the Øresund coast. Nordhavn is therefore no longer just a hotspot for bathers in the summer months, but now also a destination for hungry foodies who are curious about, for example, experiencing authentic sushi in an intimate setting or putting their teeth to caramelized pastry. Here is your guide to Nordhavn.

Buvette
The French bistro was one of the first restaurants to open its doors in Nordhavn. The ambition is to create a natural gathering point for the locals as well as the visitors to the harbour by combining the classics from the French bistro kitchen with the cosiness of the Danish – and with a great focus on wine. With its location looking out on the vibrant life by the water and with the sun at the right angle, a seat at one of the outdoor tables at Buvette is a hit in the summer.

Kini Kini
With the relatively recent opening of Kini Kini, the tropical sensations from Bali have come to Nordhavn. The restaurant is a fusion of an Indonesian green and lush jungle with bamboo and then Nordhavn’s raw cement. The atmosphere is relaxed and you can stop by either for a quick curry or go all-in(clusive) with a completed tour of the menu.
Henrik Yde from the Kiin Kiin restaurants is behind this green oasis in Nordhavn. This summer, the outdoor terrace overlooking the water and the silos has been opened, so on days with great weather, all you have to do is close your eyes to dream your way to Bali.

Sushi Anaba
At the end of the year in 2019, Mads Battefeld opened the Japanese sushi restaurant Sushi Anaba in Nordhavn. Here, he puts all his energy into making and serving sushi in true Japanese style with the use of Scandinavian seafood.
The small restaurant, which is beautifully decorated with Nordic design, seats just eight people at the counter. They each get an intimate and authentic experience from Mads Battefeld, who gently and in the most gracious way makes sushi in the edomae way. And you can forget about chilimayo and cream cheese – it’s all about fish, rice, soy and wasabi.

LETZ SUSHI
There are not many areas of the city where one is not in a walking distance from a LETZ SUSHI restaurant. And Nordhavn is no exception. The sustainable sushi chain has one of its probably best located restaurants on the corner of Bordeauxgade and Sandkaj with a direct view of the water, which the large panoramic windows also generously invite inside the restaurant.
It is an ideal place for a light lunch or takeaway.

Bar Uno
Every neighborhood has its own favourite pizzeria. And Nordhavn is of course no exception. Bar Uno is an organic, Italian pizza bar that is based on the good Italian traditions and the proud craft of making pizza.
The style is Neapolitan and that means a soft dough with crispy crust, a balanced tomato sauce and really good cheese that stretches between mouth and pizza when taking a bite. The latter is so important that Bar Uno has chosen to make their own fior di latte, mozzarella, stracciatella and burrata in the small room next door – also called Nordhavns Mikromejeri, which functions as an ice cream shop during the season.

OLIOLI
During the corona crisis, OLIOLI took a step forward and opened their seventh restaurant – this time in Nordhavn. Here, there is a view of the Øresund and Sandkajen, and when the bathing guests get hungry, it is easy to pick up a bowl to enjoy by the water.
In addition to the menu, as you know it from the other of OLIOLI’s restaurants, the restaurant in Nordhavn also offers a new breakfast concept. For example, you can have their smoothie bowls that are filled with vitamins and superfoods like acai and moringa. Or try their “Poke on Rye” – rye bread or sourdough bread with the best of toppings from OLIOLI’s poke bowls. Of course, you can also get coffee and healthy juices.

Andersen & Maillard
Since the summer of last year, the locals in Nordhavn have been able to enjoy the crispy baked goods and the good coffee from the Nørrebro acquaintance Andersen & Maillard. The name is a combination of the surname of one of the two owners behind and then the chemical reaction that occurs when amino acids and sugar are heated and browned – it can also, without being completely wrong, be called caramelization.
If in doubt, we can inform you that maillard is extremely delicious when it comes to pastry. Try it for yourself with one of their heavenly croissants or other wonderful specialty pastries.

Restaurant SILO
On the 17th floor of the silo you can enjoy a unique view of Nordhavn at Restaurant SILO. Visit the restaurant either in broad daylight for a nice lunch or in the evening, where the countless twinkling lights illuminate the city and penetrate through the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
SILO offers food that “has to give the view a run for it’s money”, as they themselves say. This means that the menu spans both French, Nordic and Danish kitchen style – and probably also with a sprinkle of inspiration from other kitchens – and is not subject to any dogmas, except that the quality must be top notch.

Coffee to stay or to go
Whether you are a resident in Nordhavn or just visiting to explore the area, there are several options for a good cup of coffee. Try the small local coffee bar Ocean Coffee, which is located with a direct view of Nordhavn’s Bassin, the always great Original Coffee at Göteborg Plads or look inside at The Audo, which is located in a very elegant house with beautiful design. Over the summer, The Audo also runs a pop-up with Restaurant Lola. It’s worth checking out!
