The Sixteen Twelve
The brunch game in Copenhagen is strong, and it can be difficult to challenge the well-established restaurants. But the relatively new The Sixteen Twelve in Jægersborggade in Nørrebro has still managed to do so – and with great success. Anyhow, you can forget all about showing up spontaneously on a weekend morning, because all the tables are usually busy or reserved until the afternoon. The small café draws its inspiration from the Australian city of Melbourne, and the menu offers goodies such as “Smashed Avo”, “Eggs Benedict” with pulled pork, “French Toast” on homemade brioche and coconut yogurt with homemade granola.

Møller Kaffe & Køkken
A few blocks from The Sixteen Twelve you will find Møller Kaffe & Køkken on Nørrebrogade. A brunch concept that focuses on honest, good ingredients and good coffee. The concept is that you choose several small dishes from the menu and happily share with your company. It could be, for example, an organic fried egg, sourdough bread with buttermilk butter, their homemade chicken nuggets in crispy panko, kale with nutmeg butter and salted egg yolk, burrata with basil shoots and heirloom tomatoes or some of the other exciting servings. And then you can finish off with their popular waffle, which is usually served with homemade compote and vanilla cream. At Møller Kaffe & Køkken, it is also a good idea to book a table this weekend.

Wulff & Konstali
We all know the fixed brunch plates where there is always some element we are not so fond of. You can completely avoid this at Wulff & Konstali. They are among the first to offer the brunch concept with small delicious dishes, where guests are allowed to choose exactly what they want to eat. You put together your brunch by crossing it off on a list – there is everything from scrambled eggs, salmon mousse with shallots and melon salad with chili and coriander to oat yoghurt with berries and quinoa, chia porridge with pineapple compote and waffle with berry cream and pistachios. Visit Wulff & Konstali either on Amager, Nørrebro or in Hellerup.

Mad & Kaffe
Another great one for the “build your own brunch” concept is Mad & Kaffe. The restaurant first opened in Vesterbro, but has since opened in Frederiksberg and Amagerbro as well. The concept is that you choose either three, five or seven small dishes from the menu at a fixed price. The menu offers avocado with chili, sesame and goma dressing, organic cheese with raspberry jam, scrambled eggs with sautéed mushrooms, cheese-sausage with truffle-mayo and cress, organic butter croissant, and then there is Mad & Kaffe’s homemade nutella; a must-have. It is not possible to book a table for brunch, so you will have to get up early or expect to stand in line. However, you can also have lunch or dinner at Mad & Kaffe, but that is a different menu.

Fars Dreng
This small chain of two cafés in Ny Adelgade and Rosengården in Indre By started out as a project between a father and a son who wanted to create a real Copenhagen breakfast café. Here you can eat breakfast, brunch and lunch, all of which are made with organic ingredients and a focus on sustainability. Choose the brunch plate with fennel sausage, two kinds of cheese and jam, avocado with homemade salsa, a fried egg, grapefruit and bread and butter, or choose your a few of favorites from the menu. It could, for example, be the signature dish – toasted rye bread with avocado, tomato, emmentaler and a fried egg on top. Or a croque madame and a portion of their “overnight oats” with plum compote, caramel sauce and fresh berries.

Sidecar
Are you one of those people who wishes you could have breakfast all day long? Then Sidecar is most likely a place just for you. Here, breakfast is served all day from 8 in the morning to 15 in the afternoon. And it will probably hit all the right spots. In the weekdays, Sidecar’s breakfast plate consists of scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, chia porridge on coconut milk with fresh berries and roasted almonds, cheeses with homemade chutney, ham and homemade hummus, fresh fruit, half an avocado with homemade pea puree, zucchini fritters and tahini dressing, and last but not least, Sidecar’s pancakes with homemade berry syrup. Wow – a sumptuous feast for a breakfast-hungry type. The whole thing is also available for vegans. At the weekend, the concept is a little different, and here parts of the brunch are served at the table, while other parts are presented at a buffet table.

The Union Kitchen
At The Union Kitchen in Store Strandstræde, you can go classic with a brunch plate that contains everything it needs: eggs, sausages, bacon, salmon, cheese, avocado toast, yoghurt and granola, pastry, fruit and bread. But you can also challenge and bring your perhaps even sleep-deprived taste buds to life with a slightly different brunch. For example, you can choose a ‘bowl’ with pulled pork, avocado, tomato, spinach and a poached egg on top or the waffle with fried chicken, harissa, yogurt and watermelon. There is also shakshuka with chili, peppers, feta and eggs – or if it has been one of those nights, you can treat the hangover with a bacon/cheeseburger and truffle fries. Also, remember to get a cup of coffee with a fresh message in the frothy milk.

Les Trois Cochons
In the middle of Værnedamsvej, which is the small street between Frederiksberg and Vesterbro, you will find the local Parisian bistro Les Trois Cochons. Here, they get up early just like the French, and they serve what your French bistro heart desires the most. Start the day with a large breakfast table that you put together from the menu. Choose between, for example, avocado on rye bread with poached egg, grapefruit and melon with fresh mint, yoghurt with berries and granola, french fries with smoked salmon, smoked cheese and pickled onions, a velvety soft omelette with cheese and ham or maybe ‘Eggs Royale’ with fresh salmon, spinach and hollandaise. Of course, like any other breakfast café in Paris, there are also freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolat.

Café Baryl
In the heart of Østerbro on Århusgade is Café Baryl. An organic breakfast and lunch spot, which, in contrast to the simple, stylish decor in shades of gray and a minimalist expression, serves food in all the colors of the rainbow. Here you should try the plate “Morning Baryl”, which consists of an avocado dish with carrot hummus and a runny egg, crispbread with tapenade of sun-dried tomatoes, hot smoked salmon and pea shoots, and chia porridge with fruit, soy whipped cream, coconut sugar and seeds. For drinks, you can choose between one of the colorful lemonades or a latte on, for example, beetroot or matcha. Everything is organic and homemade, and the surroundings are relaxed and laid-back.

Nimb Brasserie
If you have spent the whole week eating dry oatmeal for breakfast and would like to give yourself a little extra pampering on the weekend, you can consider having your brunch at Nimb Brasserie. Here, you will get a number of well-composed, hot dishes served at the table, and whatever else you may be tempted by, you can choose from the buffet. The hot dishes usually change from week to week and the menu follows the season in terms of ingredients. Since Nimb’s chefs come from different countries and continents, they are happy to contribute with their favourite dishes from their home country. An example of the menu the other day were salty waffles with beetroot roe and sour cream, scrambled eggs with truffle, fried pork with apple compote, falafel with tahini yogurt and tactouka (a Moroccan dish with baked peppers and tomato). Cremant, coffee/tea and juice are included.
