The good weather is coming, and it seems that Denmark will be hit by a heatwave in just a second. This means that it is time to pack your swimwear, turn in direction of the waves and get sand in between your toes. And if you’re planning on going to Amager Strandpark, you should stop by the new Yellow Bird Coffee, which has just opened on Amager Strandvej 108. Here, the knowledgeable staff will make sure that your coffee is always freshly brewed on freshly ground and specially selected beans. The roastery roasts six to eight different kinds of coffee beans, so there are always freshly roasted beans for every taste and ready to take home.
Named after songbird
At Yellow Bird Coffee, the coffee beans are carefully selected, and purchases are always made from areas that are in season and where the coffee farmers get a fair payment for their beans. In addition, Yellow Bird Coffee focuses on sustainability, and therefore all guests receive a 10% discount if they bring their own coffee mug.
The roastery and coffee bar is called Yellow Bird Coffee, and there is a very special reason for this: “Yellow bird is a songbird that lives in South America and takes care of the coffee beans – they eat the insects that would otherwise eat the coffee beans. It is called the coffee bird, and that is why our coffee bar and roastery is named after it. We feel a really good cup of quality coffee has been lacking for the many people who live here and those who visit us,” says Kenneth Hou Jensen, who is a co-owner and lives close to Amager Strandpark.
Food and drinks in the sun
Especially this summer, many hours will be enjoyed on the Danish beaches and Yellow Bird Coffee, located right by Amager Strandpark, has a large sunny outdoor area where there is room for many coffee-thirsty guests. It is also possible to enjoy a yoghurt with homemade granola, a homemade bun made on the café’s own sourdough or a freshly baked croissant. In addition, the coffee bar, of course, has everything from a tasty filter coffee and espresso to their very own iced coffee – a recipe that has been under development for several months, and with a homemade syrup that has boiled over five hours to get its unique taste.
