Favourite streets in Copenhagen: Ravnsborggade
Ravnsborggade is the first street on the right hand side, when you pass Dronning Louise's Bridge in the direction of Nørrebro. In spite of the short length of the street, the list of good places to eat and wine bars on Ravnsborggade is long. We are guiding you to our favourites here.
Det Ny Scala
From 1974 until 2014, Scala in Ravnsborggade was a classic brown pub, where glass bottles of beer and filled ashtrays decorated the rooms. But five years ago, the pub changed its name to Det Ny Scala (The New Scala) and now, the place is better characterised as a bar. The beers are still cheap, and the cosy pub feel is still evident but cigarettes most be smoked outside, and the ashtrays have been replaced with dice and cups. Det Ny Scala is a good place for a beer with friends after work or as the ending to a meal in another place down the street.

Bevar’s
Irrespective of if you are on the lookout for a breakfast bite, a cup of afternoon coffee or a glass of wine, you can always stop by Bevar’s. The café is open all days of the week from morning until late in the evening, and in the weekends it’s open until 3 am. Make your way for a brunch plate with organic yoghurt and homemade granola, eggs, chorizo and freshly baked bread or for a piece of smørrebrød (open sandwich) with fried plaice or a warm frikadelle (Danish meat ball). In the evening, you can enjoy the dish of the day, soup or salad for respectively 115 and 95 kroner. Bevar’s is, moreover, a popular place among students who can be found with their noses in books or laptops during daytime.

Bambam
Not many places in Copenhagen are serving food from the Caribbean area. But newly opened Bambam on Ravnsborggade does. Here, you can explore Jamaican jerk chicken, which is basically chicken that is grilled in a special jerk marinade. The chicken is served with traditional rice and peas, and if you want to give it the finishing touch, you should have the soft drink Ting on the side. The owners of Bambam are the musician TopGunn (Oliver Gammelgaard Nielsen) and Milan Damjanovic, who also owns Lulu next door.

Lulu
The cocktail bar Lulu is – in contrast to some of the street’s other places – one of the newer additions to Ravnsborggade. In the cosy and atmospheric setting, the bartenders are doing the magic behind the bar and mixing cocktails with a twist. You can, of course, ask for classic cocktails in the bar, but we recommend trying some of Lulu’s own creations like the Lulu’s Licorice or one of the Old Fashioned-variations.

Maui
The colourful pokebowls at Maui on Ravnsborggade take you on a trip to Hawaii. You can choose between 10 signature bowls from the menu, and they typically consist of either salmon, tuna or tofu and are accompanied with delicious greens such as edamame beans, seaweed salad, pickled ginger or red onion and kale. Some bowls are topped with kimchi and ponzu, while others are finished off with chili or goma dressing. Regardless of what you choose, you are guaranteed a lunch or a meal with a kick in both flavours and colours. And you’ll definitely load up on vitamins as well.

Cock’s & Cows
Cock’s & Cows opened their first American-inspired restaurant in Copenhagen in 2010, and now you can have great burgers in several places – one of them being Ravnsborggade. Even though Cock’s & Cows were sold to the large Finnish restaurant company Restamax last spring, they haven’t forgotten their roots. In the restaurant on Ravnsborggade, they serve their nine different burgers, including the Classic Cow, a traditional burger without any frills, Cheese’n’Smoke with bacon and cheddar, The Governator with a double patty, double bacon and double cheddar, and Zé Brazil, which is a chili-grilled patty with fried buffalo mozzarella and chilimayo.

Kung Fu 2
A fusion of Asian fingerfood, local produce and cocktails with a focus on social dining like in Japan. It’s the talk of a so-called izakaya bar with small dishes from the Japanese country- and street kitchen, wooden tables and chairs, and dimmed lights. Kung Fu is split in two, a restaurant and a bar, where the drinks menu consists of cocktails, Japanese and European beer, sake, wine and limonade. The cocktail menu changes with the seasons, and it has drinks like Saketini and Asian Mule – everything is made from the bottom. You’ll find snacks such as spicy nuts, edamame beans and crispy shrimps, and dishes including everything from sushi to dumplings, ramen and coconut ice cream.

Ravnsborg Vinbar
It goes without saying that wine is in the pride of place at Ravnsborg Vinbar. There are more than a 100 wines on the menu, and you can choose between 30 for just a glass. If that sounds bewildering to you, do not worry. Just ask the skilled waiters for a recommendation – they love to talk about wine and make a virtue of guiding and tasting the wine with you. Besides the love for wine, the love for food is equally big at Ravnsborg Vinbar. The kitchen cooks from the Nordic cuisine with a main focus on game but also fish, snacks and desserts.

20a
The small wine bar and restaurant 20A is normally full on both weekdays and weekends. Here, the menu is kept simple and short with just a bit of charcuteri, a single entrée, soup, fish dish and dessert plus a dish of the day. The wine menu is quite longer and encourages you and your company to lean back in the relaxing surroundings and enjoy some nice wine. In the warmer spring and summer months, 20A is the ideal place to move the “hygge” outside under the heating lamps on the sidewalk of Ravnsborggade.
